Advocacy is the heartbeat of social change, a powerful tool that amplifies voices, challenges injustices, and fosters progress. Whether advocating for human rights, healthcare, education, or environmental protection, individuals and organizations play a vital role in shaping policies, influencing public opinion, and making a tangible impact.
Tisha Savage, CEO/Founder of Revolutionary Pageants is on the frontlines of advocacy; pushing for the changes so desperately needed, not just in the pageant industry but at our local, state and national levels of government. Using her own battles with Psoriatic Arthritis as her driving force, Tisha strives tireless to make sure all voices are represented and have a seat at the table.
In March 2025, Tisha partnered with the National Psoriasis Foundation and a coalition of nearly 30 patient and physician groups as they endeavored to stop the latest and greatest PBM(Pharmacy Benefit Manager) tactics. The tactics they hoped to ban included maximizers along with alternative funding programs (AFPs) which may make it difficult for patients to access and afford their medicines by limiting coverage. As a result, patients are falling through the cracks and are not benefiting from the laws intended to protect them.
The work doesn’t just stop there. Revolutionary Pageants leverages the platform of pageantry with advocacy efforts. With partnerships with NAMI, National Psoriasis Foundation and the Arthritis Foundation, Tisha is creating space for national and international titleholders to go to Capitol Hill to be the voice for change.

No voice is to small. No change is to insignificant. At its core, advocacy is about speaking up for those who may not have the platform or opportunity to do so themselves. You can start by simply contacting your congressman/woman or state representatives.
Anyone can be an advocate, regardless of background or experience. Here are key steps to becoming an effective advocate:
- Educate Yourself – Understanding the issues, policies, and challenges surrounding your cause is crucial.
- Find Your Voice – Whether through writing, speaking, or organizing, determine the best way to share your message.
- Engage with Others – Build networks, collaborate with organizations, and unite with like-minded individuals.
- Use Your Platform – Leverage social media, public speaking, and community events to raise awareness.
- Take Action – Participate in campaigns, attend protests, write to policymakers, and support initiatives that drive change.
- Stay Persistent – Advocacy takes time, and real change often requires long-term dedication and resilience.
